Agia Irene Gorge
Hiking distance: 7km
Hiking duration: 3-4h
Difficulty: 2,5/5
Cross a dreamy gorge, and dive into the blue.
Agia Irene Gorge is the second most popular hiking destination, following the gorge of Samaria. It’s a wonderful and not crowded trail.
The characteristic of the gorge is the richness of the forest vegetation in terms of trees (cypress, oak, plane, etc), bushes, and herbs (sage, dittany, etc). Its biodiversity is unique and marks the identity of the gorge.
Like most of the gorges of southern Chania, it ends close to the sea, near the village of Sougia with its clean and beautiful beach, where you can enjoy an unforgettable swim. Sougia village is very well known for its warm hospitality and delicious local kitchen.
